Or maybe the OP is like me, and their tinnitus from years of playing in rock bands drowns the hiss!!!Īgree with you upbeat, by all means, the OP can TRY IT. Others might favor the all-in-one solution due to space or aesthetic considerations. Some people might not want to do the research into what amp + what passive speakers. While this is true, powered monitors do also offer the advantage of simplicity. If you're dead set on monitors, consult the hiss list on Audiosciencereview. Monitors are not good piano speakers due to high self-noise, now, some people are NOT Sensitive, all i can say is TRY THEM, if you're ok with ssssss.
do real pianos go ssssssss during silent passages ? the HIGH hiss makes them very poor choice for piano, because during passive silent passages (piano), you hear ssssssssss. The yamaha hs series is an extremely HISSSsssy series of speakers, they're reasonably flat, in my opinion they don't sound good, but they are reasonably flat. They're only marginally flatter than a good speaker because of dsp, but if dsp is what you're after, you can do that manually and get roughly the same trim. jaggy frequency response indicate bad crossover/ inadequate crossover. So, again, it's a bad combo, and it shows up in the measurements, High distortion at low frequencies indicate bad speaker design. look at the measurements of most of the $20-30 amps, especially the ones with trim pots, they're horrible. ONTOP of the hiss from the amplifier gains. The dac and amp at this price class are anywhere between 30-50 sinad.
The answer is, they give you a low quality everything, speaker, dac, amp. How can they fit that into 1 box, for $150 a piece. it's a speaker and an AMP, sometimes a dac. Monitors, are generally really low quality until $1000 and up. I'd go with MOTU of FOCUSRITE but not needed at the moment. You can use ASIO4ALL and see how your hardware performs and then spend money on it. You don't necessarily need an audio interface. There are many parameters when matching an amplifier and speakers (passive ones) and for this reason, it is better to get active monitor speakers as the manufacturer already has set all the parameters, e.g. smaller room), Yamaha has fewer adjustments but Yamaha's sound quality is a bit better.
KRK has a room adjustment app if you have issues with your room (e.g. I must also add that whatever KawaFanBoi is saying is pure nonsense. You will be the first and the last owner of such a system and you'll end up throwing it in the garbage bin if you ever decide to sell it. If you don't have an audio system already, never ever invest in an external amp and passive (non-powered) speakers. Monitoring speakers are the right decision. I am totally ignorant about audio monitors etc., so I don't know what else I will need to connect the audio monitors to my laptop.ĭo I need a special cable to connect the audio output of the laptop to one of the two monitors?Īre the two monitors connected with each other with a cable so that only one of them needs to be connected to the laptop?ĭo I need any other cables? (To connect the two monitors, for example).ĭo I need anything else? (Since they are active monitors, I think they don't need an external amplifier, right?). I would like to purchase external audio monitors to use with the VPC1, and I am thinking of the KRK Rokit RP5 G4 model.
